Materials
- A very small amount of yarn in various colors (I used pink for the cake, white for the icing, red for the cherries and yellow for the flare).
- 4-4.5 mm hook
- A very small amount of fiberfill stuffing
- Gauge is not important for this project, use the size hook appropriate for the yarn you chose.
- All the pieces are worked in continuous rounds, do not turn or join. Place a marker in the last stitch to indicate the end of the round. Move marker up as each round is completed.
- The stitches should be tight so that the filling doesn't show through the holes.
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- st - stitch
- idec - invisible decrease. Instructions for this can be found here .
- [ ... ] - repeat instructions in [ ] as many times as specified.
Instructions
1: With white yarn, ch 2. 8 sc in second st from the hook, or use the magic loop method
2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 16 sc at the end of this round (16)
3: [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 8 times (24). Change to pink yarn.
4: Sc in back loops only around (24).
5-7: Sc around (24).
Cut 5-6 short pieces of red yarn. Tie a double knot in the middle of each piece. Pull one end through the top of the cake, then the other through a different hole. Tie both ends in the back to secure. Place cherries around, using the picture as a reference.
Cut 3-4 longer pieces of yellow yarn. Tie a knot in the middle of the pieces, held together. Pull both ends of the yarn through, and tie on top of the cake to make the flare.
8: [idec, sc in next sc] 8 times (16) Stuff cake.
9: idec 8 times (8) Cut and pull the thread through remaining stitches to close the hole.
